Last Friday morning, the Regional Minister of the Environment, Housing, and Agriculture, Paloma Martín Martín, along with other members of the Community of Madrid, as well as staff from the Madrid City Council and the Alcorcón City Council, visited the construction site of one of the first housing developments launched under the Plan Vive, located in the Ensanche Sur neighborhood of Alcorcón.
The purpose of this visit—during which she was accompanied by several colleagues and executives from Culmia—was to follow up on and inspect the progress of the construction project that began a couple of months ago, which involves the construction of 822 affordable rental units.
The main purpose of the affordable price of these homes is to facilitate access to decent housing for various vulnerable groups. These include young people under 35, large families, women who are victims of gender-based violence, people with disabilities , and those over 65.
The apartments currently under construction in Alcorcón are spread across six lots, and the units will have one, two, or three bedrooms. Residents will also have the opportunity to enjoy various common areas, such as a community pool, a multipurpose sports court, a gym, and more.
An industrialization process is being implemented for the construction of these homes in order to speed up delivery and reduce costs .
This industrialization process relies on the use of the latest technology to manufacture all the structural components of the homes, and the only requirement is that they must be assembled on-site for their final use. This technique reduces delivery times by 30% and is also more environmentally friendly, as it results in lower water and energy consumption, thereby improving sustainability.
