Join us and be sure to pay close attention to everything we’re going to tell you, because we’ll also be talking about our developments in Barcelona, which include apartments with terraces.

Barcelona, a city that doesn’t aim to reach “the sky”

We already know that one of the main characteristics of large cities is the construction of high-rise buildings. However, in the case of the Catalan capital, this trend is less noticeable than in other major European cities, as there are hardly any skyscrapers visible on itsskyline. In fact, the long-term plan is for no building to exceed the height of the tallest tower of the Sagrada Familia, which will reach 172.5 meters once it is completed.

The reasons? At the time, Antonio Gaudí designed his masterpiece to reach this maximum height, since the summit of the “sacred” Mount Montjuïc rises to 173 meters. And since then, the tradition has continued, because the Olympic city has always preferred to expand horizontally rather than vertically. That is why its current “skyline” features relatively low-rise buildings such as the Mapfre Tower (154 meters) and the Agbar Tower ( 144 meters).

In short: it’s possible to live high up in Barcelona, but there are better places to embrace height and “vertigo.” That doesn’t mean, however, that once we’re out on the terrace of our apartment, we can’t enjoy incredible views and a host of perks.

Advantages of Living on a Rooftop Terrace in Barcelona’s High-Rise District

Good weather

We’ve mentioned this before: throughout the year, temperatures in Barcelona range from 5 to 28 degrees Celsius. What’s more, it’s estimated that it rains 90 days a year, so you’ll be able to enjoy your terrace without worrying about getting wet on about 75% of those days.

Brightness

Barcelona enjoys 2,453 hours of sunshine per year. That’s an average of nearly 10 hours a day, so if you like to enjoy the “sun,” it’s a great city to buy a home with a terrace.

Great views

Of course, this will depend both on the height of the apartment with a terrace and its location. But if we choose wisely, we’re very likely to find a spot with a unique view. Since there are no high-rise buildings, the chances of a skyscraper or large structure blocking your view are reduced.

A chance to enjoy the ocean

Since this is a coastal city, an apartment with a terrace will directly benefit from the advantages of being near the sea. It has been proven that the sea helps you sleep better, supports respiratory function, promotes the body’s production of vitamin D, and reduces stress. So, if you can, try to make sure your terrace has a view of the Mediterranean!

A place to unwind

Barcelona is a city with a vast array of leisure and entertainment options, but on those occasions when you’d rather relax or unwind in the comfort of your own home, your terrace makes it easy. Step outside and enjoy your own little outdoor space, or invite family and friends over to share some unforgettable moments.

Add extra value to your home

As a result of the coronavirus lockdown, homes with terraces have increased in value on the Spanish market. Having a home with a terrace is a “plus”; and if it’s also located in a city like Barcelona, it’s a true privilege.
