What’s more, having a gallery with large windows will give you bright, cheerful spaces; and if it’s a long, narrow hallway, we recommend that you don’t turn it into a storage room and instead make the most of it.
Mainly because having an enclosed patio will allow you to enjoy that space every day of the year, no matter how it’s decorated, and it will also shield you from the noise of living in a big city.

Choose your style
Just like the inside of your home, don’t forget to decorate your patio.
If your home has a specific style, it’s rare to decorate it differently. However, if you want to change it, we encourage you to do so by exploring these different styles:
- Boho style: We all associate it with hippie or bohemian culture; and we can achieve this look by mixing different colors, candles, lamps, and Arabic-style rugs…
- Minimalist style: As we always say, less is more. With this style, you’ll aim for simplicity and a design that focuses more on the colors and shapes you choose than on overloading the terrace with details.
- Chill-out style: Although this isn’t a conventional style, it’s common to decorate these types of spaces this way. It involves placing a few sofas and a coffee table with cushions, along with some lights or candles arranged around the furniture. This will create a relaxing atmosphere that makes you feel like you’re at the beach.
Make the most of every space
The first option—and one of the most classic—is to choose furniture that fits the size of your patio.
If it’s small, you can put in a single sofa and a small table.
On the other hand, if it’s larger, you can decorate it more easily. Add sofas, a table, and chairs to enjoy the days when the weather permits, a lounge chair or a swing chair, storage cabinets…
As you can see, a larger size makes it easier to come up with decorating ideas, but don’t give up—decorate every space you have.

Workspace
If our house is very small and we have a covered terrace, we might consider using that space to create a bedroom or a study/work area.
These spaces are perfect for setting up a small home office, since you can enjoy plenty of natural light thanks to their large windows, which will help you concentrate better.
You can set up a table that isn’t too big so it doesn’t take up all the space, and put shelves on the walls near the table to store any papers or pictures you need.
Kitchen counter
If your kitchen is near this space and you don’t have a dining table, you can use this area to set up a bar next to the windows and enjoy the views from your home with every meal.
This countertop can be made of the same material as your kitchen countertop to add depth to the kitchen, but if you want it to look like a separate area, install one in a different color alongside some bar stools—just make sure they don’t clash with your decor.
The pandemic has spurred us to get more active, and now, more and more, we’re working out from home. So, if your home doesn’t have common areas, you don’t have enough space to work out, or you don’t want weights, a yoga mat, or even a treadmill in the middle of your living room or bedroom… this is the space for you!
If you’re not sure what to do with your enclosed patio, this is a great option. Having large windows not only provides excellent natural light but also offers ventilation and a certain sense of “distraction”that will help you exercise longer without thinking about how tired you are.
Create Your Own Green Space
No matter how small it is, don’t forget to decorate it with plants and flowers—or even create a small urban garden. We’re not saying you should take up the entire terrace, but do set aside some space for this, and you’ll see how having it will bring you peace and well-being, in addition to providing you with a sustainable space in your home.
On the rest of the terrace, you can set up a space for eating, relaxing, or even exercising. But don’t forget: always leave enough space so you can move around freely and the area doesn’t feel cramped.

Storage Area
If you have no other choice and are short on space in your home, take advantage of your terrace to place storage furniture of varying heights. If you choose medium-sized pieces, they’ll not only let light in but also create a sense of spaciousness. For example, you can use it for closets to store clothes you’re not currently wearing, as a pantry for groceries, or even to store all those kids’ toys that you no longer have room for in their bedrooms.
