It’s becoming more and more common to see kitchens with one section tiled and another painted.
When you start looking for a color for your kitchen, you should keep in mind the lighting in the space, the size of the room, the color of your cabinets, and so on. So, when you ask yourself this question, you should focus solely on your preferences and tastes—nothing else.
And today at CULMIA, we’re going to share some tips with you in this article. Keep reading!
What should you keep in mind?
Before painting your kitchen, there are a number of points you should keep in mind that are essential for choosing the right color:
- Lighting: Depending on how much light your kitchen gets, you should paint it in lighter or darker colors.
- Size: Just like lighting, this has a big impact on color. If your kitchen is small, has a lot of furniture, and you paint it a dark color, it will feel even smaller.
- Durability: As with the rest of the house, you’ll need to paint the walls from time to time. In a kitchen, they’re likely to get even dirtier, so you should consider whether you want to paint them a light color that will probably require more maintenance.
White
The color white reflects light and makes the kitchen look bigger and brighter. Plus, it’s easy to pair with any type of furniture or decor.
On the other hand, one drawback is that this color gets dirty very easily and needs to be cleaned every so often. Also, if the wall is very close to the glass-ceramic cooktop, it will get dirty frequently.

Black or dark colors
These types of colors are in style. If your kitchen isn’t too small, these colors will make it look more sophisticated and elegant. Since they’re dark tones—unlike white—they’ll make the space feel less bright, which can be seen as a positive if we consider that they convey a sense of “calm” and a cozy atmosphere.
Finally, whether you have kids or not, these colors will make it harder to spot stains on the walls —or at least make them less noticeable.
Just the roof
If you’re not ready to try something new on your walls or your kitchen doesn’t have any tile-free space, you can paint the ceiling. It’s quite a bold move, and it will give the room a very different and personal touch. This is where the full range of colors comes into play, although it’s true that if your furniture is light-colored, darker shades like green, navy blue, and even a tan color will complement it well.
These shades go well with all kinds of materials, making them ideal neutral colors.
Colorful Shades
To give your kitchen a really “cool” look, you can paint it in bold, eye-catching colors.
This year, bright colors like yellow, red, and turquoise are trending… they bring energy and vitality to a space where, in general, we spend a lot of time in our daily lives.

There are also other common colors, such as mint green, for retro or country-style furniture; pale pink, for a bold and chic space; and navy blue, for a classic and elegant touch that looks perfect when paired with wood.
