Although it’s usually the smallest room in our home, it’s quite easy for the bathroom to end up being one of the messiest places in the house. After all, that’s where we usually keep our everyday toiletries, and we even end up storing other everyday items there, such as medications or cleaning supplies.
So, given the specific functions of this room, it’s a good idea to know exactly how to organize your bathroom so it always looks perfect and you can use it without any problems. And that’s what we want to talk to you about today, because we’ve put together a series of tips to help you keep chaos from taking over this part of your home. Will you join us?

12 Tips for Organizing Your Bathroom Easily and Simply
The starting point: a clean bathroom with only the essentials
Our goal isn’t just to organize the bathroom properly; it’s also to make it easy to keep it that way as the days and weeks go by. That’s why we recommend starting with a thorough cleaning of the bathroom and everything we keep in it.
It’s important that we set aside a morning or an afternoon to get rid of or throw away everything we no longer need or don’t plan to use anymore, such as duplicate items (for example, combs, towels…) or expired or damaged products (cosmetic samples, perfumes, gels…). This will free up space and make the subsequent task of organizing everything much easier.
Also, once that’s done, and before we arrange everything to our liking, we can take the opportunity to give the bathroom a thorough cleaning. After all, it’s one of the places in our home where dirt can build up most easily, both in the corners and on the fixtures.
Clear the walkways
Safety in the bathroom is important because it is a particularly risky place for the home’s residents. In fact, it’s estimated that incidents occurring inside the bathroom account for 2 out of every 3 household accidents among seniors. We’re talking about falls, slips, and collisions with bathroom fixtures (such as the sink or bathtub)…
To prevent any accidents of this kind, regardless of age, it is essential that, when tidying up the bathroom, we keep both walkways and the areas around key fixtures—such as the sink, bathtub, shower, and toilet— clear.
Replace products and avoid hoarding
We’ve already mentioned this in the first point, but it’s worth emphasizing again: ideally, you shouldn’t accumulate unnecessary items in your home—especially if you’re trying to organize the bathroom. Let’s always keep in mind that this space is meant for hygiene and health, so we should only keep the essentials for those purposes. And, of course, make sure to periodically replace perishable items or those that run out, such as body wash, shampoo, toothpaste, and toilet paper…
Assign a place for each group of items and keep the important ones within easy reach
When you’re organizing your bathroom effectively, you might find yourself wondering: Where should I put everything? The decision is yours, but try to keep each group of products or items in a specific part of the bathroom. For example, you can store cosmetics in a dedicated cabinet or basket, health-related items (such as medications) in a first-aid kit or drawer, and hygiene products on a shelf or set of shelves…
The important thing is to know exactly where you’ve put everything and to always keep the things you use most within easy reach. After all, it’s better to keep your toothbrush and toothpaste near the sink than tucked away in a drawer on the other side of the bathroom, right?
Trays
In fact, trays are very practical solutions for storing the most common bathroom items, such as soap, shampoo, perfumes, or razor blades. You can place one on your sink countertop or mount it on the wall to make even better use of the available space. Especially next to your bathtub or shower, so you always have everything you might need close at hand!

Corner and wall-mounted furniture
Bathrooms aren’t usually very large, so it’s a good idea to find ways to take up as little space as possible. Our tip is to get a corner cabinet to make the most of one of the corners and to install cabinets, shelves, and a first-aid kit on the walls… That way, you’ll avoid taking up floor space, which is always so essential for ensuring comfort in this room.
Use cabinets and furniture with drawers—they’re very practical for storing things
This type of furniture is also a must-have if you want to keep your bathroom tidy. Its main advantage is that it conveys a sense of cleanliness and organization, since—in addition to being a decorative element—it allows you to store things inside. It’s no surprise, then, that one of the most popular solutions is to install a bathroom vanity that can serve as both a cabinet and a lighted mirror.
Use boxes and baskets for even more precise and efficient organization
Don’t settle for the space that cabinets, drawers, or shelves can provide: also use small storage boxes or baskets to organize the items inside. This way, you can better organize and separate everything you have, which will also allow you to find anything you need more quickly.
As for the baskets, you can use them to store clean towels or to put your dirty clothes in when you take them off before showering or bathing. Or, if they’re smaller, you can also use them to store jars and boxes of cosmetics.
And you might also consider getting a side cart, because it will serve the same purpose as baskets, but it’ll helpyou make better use of the space and keep everything organized in one place. It’s an incredibly practical option to tuck into a corner or unused space, like next to the sink or toilet!
Spare parts, in the same place but out of sight
In the bathroom, it’s always a good idea to keep refills of the products we use most often—such as toilet paper, toothpaste, or shower gel—within easy reach. But since we won’t be using them right away, it’s best to keep them all neatly stored and out of sight. A box inside a cabinet or a basket can be ideal places to store them, so they don’t get in the way or take up more space than necessary.
Set up a few coat racks or hangers to hang your clothes on
This is one of those things that might not occur to us at first, but that can end up being very practical when it really counts. Since the bathroom is a place where we often change clothes—both before and after taking a shower— it’s helpful to have a small coat rack or hook where we can hang our clothes or even our towel.
The back of the door can help you save space
If you don’t have a lot of space, when you’re organizing your bathroom, think about how you can make use of the door. Building on the previous point, you can attach one or more hooks to the inside of the door to hang clothes or other items you need—or even turn it into a handy towel rack.
Or you could consider a more straightforward option: install a sliding door that will free up space so you can put a closet, a piece of floor furniture, a stool, or something else in its place…
Be especially careful with the first-aid kit and cleaning supplies
If you plan to store hazardous products or products that should only be handled by an adult in your bathroom, be especially careful. This is especially true if there are children or dependent adults living in your home.
It’s common to find medications, scissors, nail files, nail clippers, cleaning products, and more in these places, so if this applies to you, be sure to store them in places that are completely safe and out of reach of small children. There are first-aid kits and cabinets specifically designed for this purpose that lock with a key, so don’t hesitate to get one to keep your bathroom organized and prevent accidents.
