Moving is an exciting process, but it can also be very stressful. It requires very specific steps and, above all, a lot of organization.
If you’ve ever moved before, you probably already know where to start. And if not, don’t worry— we’ve put together a moving checklist to help you move successfully and make the process as easy as possible.
First, keep track of your belongings
It’s easy to lose things when moving, and to prevent that from happening, you should make a list of everything you’re going to take with you.
Sort the boxes by room; and, most importantly, label them. There are several ways to do this: using sticky notes, Post-its, etc. You can also use colors to make it easier to find things: blue for the living room, red for the bathroom, white for the bedrooms, etc.

Clean up
While you’re organizing everything you’re going to take with you and making a list, we recommend that you take this opportunity to do some cleaning.
Decide what you’ll take with you and what you could throw away or donate. Keep in mind that this is the perfect time to do it, since you’ll have fewer things to sort through later!
Consider whether you need a transportation company
If you don’t think you’ll be able to handle the move on your own, you’ll need to consider hiring a specialized company to help you transport it.
This needs to be planned well in advance, since there are many options and budgets vary.

Be careful
Whether or not you need a moving company, you should stay organized and plan ahead. For example, place the heaviest items at the bottom and the lightest ones on top.
If you have fragile items (such as paintings, kitchenware, mirrors, etc.), you must indicate that those boxes contain delicate items and also try to protect the most fragile parts, such as the corners, so that they don’t break.
Don’t overload the boxes
Another tip to keep in mind is not to overpack the boxes. If you do, you probably won’t be able to move them, and the cardboard itself may not be able to support the weight, causing it to break during transport.

Don’t forget that moving requires a lot of patience, and it takes more than a day to get settled into a new home. It usually takes a couple of weeks to unpack everything, but soon you’ll be able to enjoy your new home.
