The Valgrande urban development has been distinguished as the Best Urban Development in Spain at the 23rd edition of the ASPRIMA-SIMA Awards, one of the main recognitions of the real estate sector at national level, which each year rewards the most outstanding initiatives in innovation, sustainability, quality and urban transformation.
The award was presented at the SIMA 2026 trade fair, held at IFEMA Madrid, where the jury – made up of leading professionals from the urban planning, architectural and real estate sectors – recognized the relevance of Valgrande as one of the most significant projects in the current context of city development in Spain.
A strategic project for the future of Alcobendas
Valgrande is a new urban development located in the municipality of Alcobendas (Madrid), conceived as a large-scale action designed to complete the natural growth of the city and respond to the demand for housing in the north of the Community of Madrid.
The project contemplates the construction of approximately 8,600 housing units, of which around 54% will have some type of public protection, which reinforces its orientation towards access to housing for broad segments of the population, especially young people and families.
Likewise, the planning incorporates an important endowment of open spaces and green areas, with nearly 600,000 m², including the creation of large parks and a transition strip for the protection and enhancement of the natural surroundings of Monte de Valdelatas, one of the main environmental elements of the area.
Sustainability, city and urban transformation
Valgrande is conceived as a city project that is committed to an urban development model based on sustainability, efficiency in land use and the integration of new services and public facilities.
Among its main objectives is the creation of a balanced urban environment, with new infrastructures, services and spaces for coexistence, as well as the improvement of connectivity and the quality of public space.
The development also foresees an estimated global investment of around 2.3 billion euros, as well as a significant impact in terms of employment during the urbanization and construction phases, contributing to the economic dynamism of the metropolitan area of Madrid.
A recognition of contemporary urbanism
The ASPRIMA-SIMA award places Valgrande as a benchmark in contemporary urban planning in Spain, highlighting its strategic dimension and its ability to respond to the current challenges of urban growth, housing and sustainability.
The ASPRIMA-SIMA Awards, organized by ASPRIMA and Planner Exhibitions, are considered one of the main recognitions in the real estate sector, and aim to highlight the best initiatives in urban development, regeneration, innovation and real estate promotion.
