Culmia, the real estate platform that brings together all the housing solutions on the market, is launching its first Architecture Awards: CulmiARQ. In line with its commitment to architecture, innovation, and sustainability, these awards aim to promote creativity, innovation, and design in the residential architecture sector.

Rapid social and technological transformations are bringing about significant changes in the economic, demographic, cultural, and productive spheres of our cities, and these changes, in turn, are having a direct impact on the needs of the families who live there. In light of this changing reality, Culmia developed the report“Macrotrends in Housing 2023–2030” last year in collaboration with the consulting firm A Piece of Pie to identify the key characteristics that will shape the home in the coming years. In this regard, the First CulmiARQ Awards seek to recognize architectural initiatives that align with these trends and respond to new housing demands in an increasingly changing and diverse reality.

The jury committee, which will evaluate each of the submitted projects based on criteria of architectural quality, typological innovation, sustainability, health, and industrialization, is composed ofrenowned figures from the real estate, architecture, and sustainabilitysectors. Specifically, it includes experts such as Francisco Pérez, CEO of Culmia and chair of the jury; César Frías, founder of Morph Estudio; Fermín Vázquez, principal architect at b720; Enric Batlle, founding partner of Batlleiroig; Camila Aybar, director at Aybar Mateos Arquitectos; José Toral, founding partner of Peris+Toral Arquitectes; and Sonia Hernández, founder of Arquitectura Sana.

Aimed at architects from all over Spain, participants must submit their respective projects for a hypothetical site located in a new urban development area in Madrid.

The application period will run from November 12 through January 27 and will consist of two phases. Once the finalists have been selected, they will be able to submit the remaining proposal documentation in a second round. The jury will conduct a second evaluation to select the winning project that stands out the most in terms of innovation, environmental and social impact, and the ability to adapt to current trends in collective housing.

In the words of Francisco Pérez, CEO of Culmia:“We are firmly committed to innovation and sustainability as the cornerstones of the home of the future. The First CulmiARQ Architecture Awards reflect our commitment to architecture and innovation, promoting projects that address the needs of new households in an increasingly diverse and changing society, and contributing to the development of spaces that are more sustainable, healthy, accessible, and environmentally friendly.”

The awards ceremony will be held next spring, and the selected finalists will each receive 2,000 euros, while the winning project will receive a cash prize of 10,000 euros.
