April 23, 2026– Culmia, the real estate platform that brings together all housing solutions on the market, held the 5th edition of the Health and Safety Awards, which are establishing themselves as a benchmark in the field of health and safety within the residential development sector, highlighting, further highlighting the importance of this area within the company.
The event, held at the Teatro Magno in Madrid under the theme “On the Same Frequency: Together, at the Same Pace, We Achieve Excellence,” highlighted the importance of leadership and decision-making in ensuring alignment within organizations. Through these awards, Culmia reinforces its commitment to Health and Safety, promoting attitude and leadership as key pillars of its people management policies.
Leadership in safety is a key factor, as it directly influences decision-making that can save lives. On a day-to-day basis, teams face numerous decisions aimed at ensuring the safety of all workers—both in-house and external—at every stage of real estate development. In this context, leadership in Occupational Safety and Health entails responsibility for prevention and safety, as well as the ability to influence others to foster and enforce a strong culture of prevention that ensures safe and healthy work environments.
The event featured prominent experts who shared their knowledge and experience in the field of occupational safety and health. Among them were Martha Pulido, secretary general of the Regional Institute for Occupational Safety and Health of the Community of Madrid, who delivered the opening remarks; Manuel Espinosa, Deputy Labor Inspector of the Occupational Safety and Health Division, who offered his perspective on the evolution of perimeter security systems; and Antonio Ros, Director of the School of Architecture at the Polytechnic University of Madrid, who addressed in his presentation the role of leadership in decision-making that protects lives. In addition, Francisco Pérez, CEO of Culmia, participated in the event by sharing the company’s vision on occupational risk prevention.
During the event, best practices and a commitment to excellence in health and safety were recognized, and Juan Manuel Borrás, Director of Operations at Culmia, presided over the awards ceremony for this fifth edition. The awards were presented following a thorough evaluation of the nominations by Jaime Fernández, Manager of ASPRIMA; Mario Sanz, Health and Safety Advisor for the Technical Office of the Official Association of Quantity Surveyors and Technical Architects of Madrid (COAATM); and Antonio Ros, Director of the School of Building Engineering at the Polytechnic University of Madrid.
Juan Manuel Borrás was in charge of announcing all the award winners.
In the Construction Projects category, Copcisa was named first runner-up for the Santa Olaya F3 Culmia Arbeyal housing development, and Construcciones San Martín was named second runner-up for the Madrid City Council’s affordable housing development in Arganzuela.
In the Health and Safety Coordinator category, the awards went to Cristina del Río of Bureau Veritas and David Hidalgo of Q-Safety, who was named the runner-up.
Meanwhile, in the Development Manager and Urban Planning Technician category, the winners were Calixto Moralejo and Javier Lozano.
Finally, Javier Morant (Cano & Escario), Eduardo Ucero (Seratecnica), Gustavo Torres (Avintia), Jorge González (Avintia), Miguel Salvador Escribano (Avintia), Ramón Valbuena (Q-Safety), and Juan Rubio (Culmia) for the construction of 422 homes as part of the Plan Vive project in Pinto.
