Madrid, October 22, 2025.—The Madrid Association of Real Estate Developers (ASPRIMA), the real estate developer CULMIA, and San Pablo CEU University have launched the first edition of the Mario Armero Awards, an initiative stemming from a collaboration agreement signed by the three entities to promote research and innovation in the field of sustainable building and industrialized construction.
These awards recognize the best final projects (TFG) by architecture students at CEU San Pablo University, focusing on sustainability, decarbonization, industrialization, and responsible real estate development. Through these awards, the organizing entities seek to foster young talent and its contribution to the future of the real estate sector, promoting innovative solutions that contribute to more efficient, technologically advanced, and environmentally friendly construction.
In this first edition, the submitted projects will be evaluated by a jury composed of representatives from the three organizing entities: on behalf of ASPRIMA, Sigfrido Herráez, dean of the COAM, and Diego Escario, managing partner of Cano y Escario Arquitectura; representing CEU San Pablo University, Jorge Javier Camacho, architect and founder of cmA arquitectos, as well as head of studies, deputy director, and secretary general of CES-CEU Arquitectura; and, representing CULMIA, Francisco Pérez, the company’s CEO. The jury will also include Carlos Rubio, principal architect at Rubio Arquitectura.
The jury’s decision will be announced in the coming days. The awards will be presented at a ceremony to be held on November 20 at the headquarters of the Official College of Architects of Madrid (COAM).
The Mario Armero Awards recognize six projects in three categories: industrialization in construction, sustainability and decarbonization, and real estate development and urban planning. Each category will feature a first prize of 2,500 euros and a second prize of 1,500 euros, in addition to possible honorable mentions for outstanding projects.
The award is named in honor of Mario Armero, a key figure in Spanish business history and a leading advocate for the country’s industrial modernization and innovation. As vice president of Culmia, he helped define a corporate vision committed to sustainability, industrialization, and the development of affordable housing—values that continue to shape the company’s roadmap today. His legacy, rooted in fostering talent and public-private partnerships, inspired the creation of these awards, which aim to recognize academic excellence and real-world solutions to the housing challenges of the future.
Through this initiative, ASPRIMA, CULMIA, and CEU aim to recognize entrepreneurial spirit, academic excellence, and a commitment to a more sustainableand industrialized model of construction.
