Madrid, May 22, 2025 – The Compensation Board of the MPGM Estació – Seda – Urgoiti – Paperera area, in which Culmia actively participates, has been honored at the ASPRIMA-SIMA 2025 Awards, in recognition of its work in one of the most ambitious and transformative urban regeneration projects in the metropolitan area of Barcelona.

The project, which is being developed on former industrial land to the north of El Prat de Llobregat, has been distinguished for its innovative, sustainable and inclusive approach, becoming a benchmark for regenerative urban planning at the European level.

Covering an area of 41.9 hectares, the plan envisages the creation of a new neighborhood with more than 6,000 housing units, of which more than 40% will be subsidized housing and 20% will be for affordable rentals under public ownership. This proposal not only responds to current housing needs, but also proposes new models of habitability adapted to contemporary lifestyles, based on a collaborative, flexible and open architecture.

The urban design revolves around a large green spine that connects three large parks, structuring the area through pedestrian superblocks and promoting sustainable mobility thanks to its excellent connectivity with public transport: Renfe station, metro L9 and nearby intermodal nodes.

In addition, the project integrates pioneering advanced environmental solutions, such as green roofs, reclaimed water management, low-impact materials and a 1 km photovoltaic pergola on Gran Vía, which will contribute to a near-zero energy balance in the new neighborhood.

Culmia celebrates this recognition that highlights the company’s commitment to the sustainable transformation of our cities and its participation in projects that promote a new way of understanding urban planning, based on social cohesion, ecological transition and innovation.
