This is the third edition of a Schneider Electric initiative that aims to recognize partners, customers and suppliers for their contribution to sustainability and innovation.
Schneider Electric, a global leader in digital transformation of energy management and automation, has announced the winners of the Sustainability Impact Awards 2024 in Spain and Portugal. This edition recognizes partners, customers and suppliers who have stood out for their exceptional commitment to sustainability through innovative solutions that contribute to a greener future. With more than 450 nominations submitted worldwide for the global edition, the initiative has once again surpassed itself for another year.
The Schneider Electric Sustainability Impact Awards were launched in 2022 to highlight the key role played by companies committed to a more sustainable and resilient world. Now in its third edition, participants have been evaluated for their energy, digitalization and automation solutions in their operations, reducing energy consumption and improving operational efficiency.
Recognitions in Spain and Portugal
CEN Solutions has been recognized for its facilities at the MegaPark Business Park in Dos Hermanas (Seville), one of the largest industrial plants in Spain dedicated to the manufacture of electrical equipment. The facilities were designed under strict sustainability criteria, integrating a self-consumption plant of 850 kWp of photovoltaic energy and a storage system of 2,500 kWh. For this, they have counted, among other solutions, with a microgrid and electric vehicle chargers from Schneider Electric, essential to optimize the control and management of energy.
CULMIA has been awarded for its 222-home project in Badalona (Barcelona), conceived with a comprehensive approach to sustainability. It stands out for its continuous facade with SATE system, which offers a high level of thermal insulation, and high efficiency aluminum carpentry, designed to minimize heat loss. The electrification of the entire energy demand by means of a centralized heat pump system has enabled it to obtain A energy certification. In addition, Culmia has implemented an intelligent control system, with Schneider Electric’s KNX technology and the collaboration of its partner EcoXpert ADR Ingeniería, which monitors in real time the consumption of water, air conditioning and electricity in each home, which has led to the project being rated by BREEAM with a score of “Very Good”. This commitment to digitalization and decarbonization sets a new standard in the construction sector.
Iberdrola has been recognized for its “Advanced Smart Assistant”, a platform that allows customers to monitor and optimize their energy consumption through the Iberdrola Customers App. This solution interconnects devices such as electric vehicles, automatically managing them through artificial intelligence. Shifting consumption intelligently and automatically to the best times each day, allows the user to achieve an average savings of 30% on the bill and reduce 600 kg of CO2 emissions per year. Its innovative platform based on artificial intelligence and its direct impact on the energy transition position it as a transformational tool in the market.
Inmotechnia has been highlighted for its project with student residences to improve their energy control and management. Thanks to Schneider Electric’s EcoStruxure Building Operation (EBO) solution, they have managed to monitor and optimize the energy consumption of the facilities, ensuring maximum savings and efficiency. This Schneider Electric EcoXpert partner thus contributes to the sustainability and digitalization targets of this booming market.
OÖD Architects has been recognized for its Villa Ayantam project in Marbella, designed together with the Peláez Ingeniería team, which combines bioclimatic design and advanced technology. The house integrates KNX technology and Schneider Electric’s EcoStruxure Building Operation platform, optimizing energy efficiency and comfort. This comprehensive approach has enabled Villa Ayantam to obtain the highest historical rating for a residential building in Spain according to BREEAM, standing out for its sustainability and innovative design.
Roca Group has been recognized for its leadership in sustainability and its commitment to decarbonization. Roca Group stands out for the implementation of the world’s first electric kiln for the production of sanitary ceramics, reducing its CO2 emissions by 50% since 2018. In addition, they have adopted digital tools such as different AVEVA software to monitor and optimize the operational performance of their plants along with EcoStruxure Power Monitoring Expert (PME) software to monitor energy use. Their commitment to digitalization and the adoption of targets aligned with the SBTi initiative underlines their leadership in industrial decarbonization.
Zembe has been recognized for its commitment to sustainability and its long-term focus on investment and the well-being of its employees and communities. Zembe has promoted sustainability training for its employees and has established protocols with educational institutions to encourage internships and apprenticeships. Its achievements include the installation of renewable energy systems, the transition to a more sustainable fleet of vehicles, and the creation of solutions to measure the environmental impact of products purchased by its customers.
“The support and collaboration with our ecosystem of partners and customers is vital to achieve the sustainability goals ahead of us,” says Jesús Requena, Vice President of Marketing and Strategy for Schneider Electric in the Iberian region. “The Sustainability Impact Awards seek precisely to recognize and highlight the initiatives of companies that work every day to decarbonize both their operations and those of their customers. We are proud to be able to count on them and we would like to congratulate them for their commitment to having a positive impact”.
